Network Configuration

General

Why?

It would be nice if you have only a few configuration and some script files, which let you easily configure and setup IPv6 connections. Therefore I have written (and migrated) 3 times some:

HowTo 3.15 -3.16:

I got some requests for compatibility of IPv6 interface configuration to the current (and hopefully also in the future) used style by RedHat and others. At the beginning I thought this was much work, but it was easier to do.
Note: used files are different to the old (3.08 - 3.14) ones and cannot mixed up. Fortunately, the code in the function libary got not so much changes.
Now there is also the possibility for extending the current linuxconf client network setup module, used by some Linux installations
still working, but no longer maintained - no real need for changes if no problem occurs

HowTo 3.17:

On RedHat Rawhide my a version of my scripts are already contained in the initscript-RPM
I've backpatched most of the changes done by Rawhide maintainers, fixed some bugs, extend some features, cleanup a little bit
no longer recommended, take 3.18+ instead

HowTo 3.18:

3.17 got some reviews and add-ons, also the default tunnel creation mode is switched to dedicated devices.

HowTo 3.19-3.23:

3.18 got some reviews and add-ons, more controls now available

HowTo >= 3.24:

Official move to DeepSpace6 as project initscripts-ipv6

initscripts-ipv6

initscripts-ipv6 is already since some time the new project name for my set of configuration and script files.

External tools

Tunnel setup script

Indra Kusuma <indra at Kusuma dot OR dot ID> released a script which interactively setup a tunnel to the IPv6 network.
